A Brief
Summary: Cress is the third novel of the
sci-fi-fantasy, young adult series ‘The Lunar Chronicles’. Loosely based on the
fairy tale ‘Rapunzel’, the story opens with Cress, a 16 year old hacker that
was exiled from the planet Luna due to her inability to be mentally manipulated
by the Lunar mind powers. After 7 years of isolation in a satellite orbiting Earth,
Cress is rescued by Linh Cinder and her band of misfit heroes to aide in the revolution
against the evil queen Levana.

that brought us together?’

shook his head. ‘No. I’m pretty sure it was Cinder. Why?’ “
Why You
Should Read It: To be
completely honest, I wasn’t so sure about this series when I first set my eyes
on it. It seemed to be a bit of a stretch… and to be fair, the synopsis on the
back of Cinder did the book absolutely no justice. But I am so glad I picked it
up!
Cinder, the first book in the series, had me
gripped from the get-go. Scarlet, the second novel, had some trouble holding my
attention, though that story was still immaculate. It took me over a month to
finish it, but once I did I picked up Cress and boy am I glad I did. The third
installment of ‘The Lunar Chronicles’ had me hooked from page one. It’ll have
you turning the pages so fast you’d probably be better off wearing a band-aid
to protect yourself from paper cuts.
Meyer created such a delicate, wonderful
character in Cress. You get swept up in her imagination just as much as you get
swept up in the story she’s a part of. She’s innocent and girlish, but just as
bad ass as Cinder or Scarlet. Plus, her love interest is the best male in the
whole series… But that’s just my humble opinion. :)
I can’t wait for the next book and I already
have it marked and circled twice on my calendar. I highly recommend taking the
plunge into this series. And getting them as E-books just adds to the
futuristic illusion!
